Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, (also known as Pura Bratan) is a water temple. Built in around 1630 AD, the temple is devoted to “Goddess of the Lake”. The temple is located just about 50 km north of Denpasar on the island of Bali, Indonesia. The temple lay to the shores of Bratan Lake (a very important caldera lake in Bali – since it supplies a major part of the irrigation in this region of Bali). There are lots of smaller water temples, but Pura Bratan with its 11 stories is probably the most impressive of them all.
